Welcome to Lea Forest Primary Academy

Making our best better

Lea Forest Primary Academy is a happy, dedicated and enthusiastic academy. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing and welfare of all of our children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We work hard to provide a stimulating environment in which each child can realise their full potential, developing their individual abilities, alongside the acquisition of skills and establishing positive values and attitudes.

Lea Forest Primary Academy is a larger than average multi form entry community academy that was originally built as two separate buildings over an extensive site in 1938. The academy has approximately 470 children on role from 3 to 11 years old. There are 15 classes across our Key Stage 1 and 2 phases and a dedicated Foundation stage with separate Nursery and Reception departments.

Please feel free to contact the main office should you have any questions our friendly and helpful staff are always happy to help.

Parking a reminder

Please park with care and respect for our neighbours, we have had several complaints this week from our neighbours about parking at the start and end of the school day. Please do not obstruct their verges or driveways.

Park safely and please do not endanger our children by parking illegally or in a dangerous manner.

We are working with the local PCSO team and will report vehicles that are parked in a dangerous or illegal manner.

In the interests of safety it is recommended that parents:

-Walk to the academy if they live locally to reduce traffic congestion.
-Do not use the staff car park for dropping off or collecting children at the beginning or end of the academy day .
-Do not park in the entrance to the SureStart Centre on Ridpool Road
-Do not block driveways, grass verges or junctions.
-Do not park on the kerb outside the main school entrances, especially the yellow zigzag lines, as this obstructs parents with pushchairs as well as being a safety issue.

Thank you to all those parents who do walk their children to the academy, or park sensibly on the surrounding roads and respect our community.

Head Teacher's Welcome

Our Journey Continues

Dear Parents

We have had a lovely start to the new school year.  All the pupils have come back to school with a really happy and positive attitude.  We have spent time with the children revisiting our ‘Vision and Values’

  • Having High Aspirations
  • Being Innovative
  • Being Resilient
  • Being Respectful
  • Being Independent

You will shortly be seeing our new Values Posters around school – ‘Spartacus the squirrel’ is now in every classroom and the children are responding very well.  All staff have been impressed by the behaviour, independence and attitude of the pupils in their new classes.

A big welcome to all our new families.  Our new Reception and Nursery children have settled in quickly and have all made a very good start.  We look forward to you becoming fully involved in the Lea Forest Community.

All the children look really smart in their new school uniforms.  Please can I remind you that all pupils should have a PE kit in school at all times.  We do not have many spare kits in school and your child may not be able to take part in their PE lesson if they do not have the appropriate clothing and footwear.   Can I remind you that children are NOT allowed to wear trainers to school.  All children have appropriate black school shoes.  Boots can be worn to school in inclement weather but children must change into school shoes on arrival.  Pupils should not be wearing boots during the school day.

If you would like to talk to us about anything, please feel free to talk to myself, a member of my leadership team, the office staff or your child’s class teacher.  The teachers will be happy to talk to you after school once they have dismissed their class.  Please do not try to talk to the teacher at times when they are responsible for the children, particularly at the start of the day.  Members of Senior Leadership and other staff are available at the entrances before school who can take messages and pass these on to the teachers.

Learning starts in all classes at 8.50.  Please make sure your child(ren) arrive in school promptly at the start of the day.

        Mrs Thompson
