ICT - Technology

ICT - Information Communication and Technology

Throughout the academy we aim to delivery an ICT curriculum that gives children an understanding of how to use the various forms of technology they encounter in a safe manner. ICT is a critical subject that aims to enhance all areas of the learning process and support broad range of activities in our curriculum.

Through the use of ICT in the curriculum we aim to help pupils become knowledgeable about the different sources and types of information they encounter and become comfortable in using a wide range of devices and software to explore the broader curriculum.

We recognise that working with modern electronic devices and technology is a motivational factor for our children and enjoy seeing the pleasure and excitement as they engage in a curriculum that is relevant and modern.

All classes have access to laptops, tablets and modern wireless devices, classes also have the opportunity to use our Mac Suite and the TV Studio to create digital media. Our classes all have Twitter feeds and work and achievements are regularly posted to these feeds to share with parents. In key stage two our classes are making use of Blogs to extend and develop their writing.

Our academy aims to be a pioneer, we are continuously reviewing our curriculum and seeking to adapt and develop new technologies to support learning in our school. We work in partnership with BeLF to provide a 1:1 device ratio for our children in Yr5 and have developed a modern curriculum to suit the use of tablet devices in schools.

E-Safety

Staff teach and model the safe use of technologies during lessons and we are always happy to support parents and carers with workshops and individual sessions that demonstrate how to set up devices safely at home.

Lea Forest Primary Academy has a dedicated E-safety officer and our network of computers and mobile devices is protected by several measures to ensure that your child has a safe environment in which they can learn. Children are taught skills in their ICT lessons that promote data security and E-Safety awareness, we focus on making children aware of who they can talk to and how they can deal with cyberbullying as part of their PSHE and ICT curriculums.

Our policy is available from the academy office upon request. Parents are advised to contact the academy if they have any concerns about their child's use of technology either via the main office or via email ITsupport@leaforestacademy.org

Digital Leaders

We aim to have modern technology clearly embedded in our curriculum and teaching. We want our children to be able to understand when the use of technology is appropriate and how it benefits and supports their learning. Our vision is for Lea Forest to be a model of innovative practice with technology firmly embed and supporting our curriculum. Our digital leaders are experts in the use of technology and promote the use of technology as a natural tool to support their learning.
