A message to our children

Dear Children

Next week you will be taking your SATs test in maths, reading, spelling, grammar and punctuation. All of your teachers here at Lea Forest know how hard you have worked, but there is something very important you must know.

The SATs tests do not asses all that make you unique and special. The people who have created these tests and mark them do not know each of you in the way that we do and certainly not in the way your families do.

They do not know that some of you speak more than one language or that you love to sing or draw. They have not seen your talents for dancing, sport or playing a musical instrument. They do not know that your friends can count on you to be there for them, that your laughter can brighten the darkest of days or that your face goes bright red when you feel shy. They don't know that you take part in afterschool clubs, wonder about the future or sometimes help your brother or sister after school. They do not know that you are kind, trustworthy and thoughtful individuals and that everyday you try to give your best.

The levels you get from your SATs will tell you something, but they will not tell you everything. There are so many ways of being smart, creative and independent. So while you are preparing for these test this week, remember that there is no way to test all of the amazing, awesome and incredible things that combine to make you, YOU!

We are incredibly proud of all you have achieved.

Have a good rest, good luck and believe in your amazing abilities

Yours sincerely

The Teachers of Lea Forest Academy
