Appointment of New Headteacher

Dear Parents

It has been another positive year for the school as we converted to Lea Forest Academy in December 2012 and began the first leg of another new journey. We have continued to raise standards with 63% Level 4 combined at Key Stage 2 ensuring we meet the floor targets. Progress is now good with our children making better progress than children nationally. The support for the school from yourselves has increased over the years and our reputation has improved in the community.

It is with great sadness that I leave you to take on the next part of the journey but I have every faith that you will continue to improve and achieve the truly great things you are capable of to achieve the recognition and praise that is deserved.

In order to achieve this the Governors have approached Topcliffe Primary School, to create a unique partnership whereby both schools can continue to grow and develop for the benefit of the children and the community. Topcliffe has a good reputation for Maths, Autism, Speech and Language initiatives and has already supported forty schools this year. They have recently been inspected by OFSTED who wrote “There is a relentless focus by staff on raising pupils’ achievements and improving the quality of their learning… Learning is fun and all groups of pupils make good progress.”

This support will, initially be provided by Mr Ian Lowe as Head Teacher of both Lea Forest Academy and Topcliffe Primary School  starting from September 2013. This partnership will enable the staff from both schools to learn from each other and share good practice. This is a really exciting prospect for all concerned and I am sure, the opportunities that will arise for our children will enhance their provision.

If you have any questions Mr Lowe and myself will be holding a short meeting on the morning of Friday

12 July 2013 at 9.10am in the Key Stage 1 Hall.

I would like to thank you all for your continued support over the last five years and I know you will continue to support the school and staff.  I wish you all every success in the future.

Yours sincerely

Miss T Moriani

Academy Head Teacher
